The war in Ukraine has devastated communities and placed unbearable pressure on an already struggling healthcare system. At the same time, many Ukrainian doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers have found themselves displaced — often arriving in the UK with decades of expertise, but no clear path forward.
The Ukrainian Medical Charity (UMC) was founded to meet both of these urgent needs: to support Ukrainian medical professionals in the UK and to strengthen the future of healthcare in Ukraine through training, technology, and transnational collaboration.

1. Support Ukrainian Medical Professionals in the UK
Many Ukrainian healthcare workers arrive in the UK highly skilled but unable to practise. UMC helps them restart their careers through:
- Training and mentorship for UK registration (NMC, GMC, HCPC)
- Guidance on English-language exams such as OET and IELTS
- Webinars, workshops, and career support tailored to their field
- Job-matching services with trusted recruiters and NHS-affiliated employers
- Peer-to-peer networks for emotional and professional support
We believe no Ukrainian doctor, nurse, or paramedic should have to start over alone.
2. Deliver Critical Medical Aid to Ukraine
Working with UK hospitals, suppliers, and charities, UMC coordinates the delivery of essential medical supplies to hospitals, clinics, and frontline medical units in Ukraine.
Our supply chain work focuses on:
- Trauma care kits, surgical supplies, and emergency medicine
- Rehabilitation and post-operative equipment
- Technology transfer, including diagnostics, simulation tools, and mobile medical units
- Ensuring the right items reach the right facilities quickly and efficiently
We act as a trusted channel between UK-based donors and Ukrainian healthcare institutions, removing red tape and targeting actual needs on the ground.
3. Upskill and Train Ukrainian Healthcare Workers
The war has created new medical realities — from mass casualty triage to complex psychological trauma. UMC works with UK training partners to deliver:

- Courses focused on mental health, PTSD, and long-term rehabilitation
